Addobea Twum is Contracts & Compliance Manager at Africa Medical Technologies (AMT) - an international biotech supplies and public health advocacy firm, domiciled in Ghana – West Africa. She serves as the main point of contact for the investigation and resolution of inter-jurisdictional regulatory compliance issues. Developing and leading organisation-wide compliance guidance and training programmes, reviewing solicitations, and leading the firm’s bid management processes and contract negotiations.
Her knowledge and professional experience span international development, trade and investment, international regulatory compliance, arbitration and marketing communications. Her legal experience and related interests have seen her work across varied fields in Shipping, Banking & Finance, Hospitality and International Development across Ghana, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Mauritius.
She was instrumental in organising the joint compliance efforts of a leading multinational petroleum firm, and in-house German shipping liner. She led the preparation of the firm’s policies, procedures and standards towards ISO Certification, in liaison with the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA).
As Legal Documentation Officer in Banking and Finance, Addobea handled paralegal and compliance duties. Reviewing letters of guarantee, assessing risk and registering categories of asset collateral with the Bank of Ghana.
Her involvement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Dubai Festival City, included monitoring marketing collaterals, marketing expense reimbursements and English Language advertising for its three flagship hotels. She was largely involved in ideation, traditional and social media content development, and communication of the outfit's marketing initiatives to all its internal and external stakeholders. Her advertisement for InterContinental Hotel’s key F&B offering was published in the 2017 issue of Time Out Dubai.
Through her work in international development with a U.S. multinational Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (ME&L) firm based in Mauritius, Addobea has been selected onto teams for the drafting of Subcontractor Manuals, In-Country Security Assessments and assigned on Bid Management processes in response to U.S. government solicitations. Her focus on issues in development, trade and investment and gender-related concerns within Africa, has seen her involvement as Project Director and Contract Compliance Head to a key partner on the 2020-2025 INVEST Project (Ghana). Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the INVEST Project is aimed at improving the socio-economic position of women and girls. Addobea has been invited on panels hosted by the International Medical Community of Sirius Global, and the 2021 GrynTrade Global Conference on AfCFTA’s contribution to tackling climate change leading up to the COP26 Summit, Glasgow. Addressing the intersections between trade and development, climate change, technology and medicine. Addobea has an LLB from Lancaster University (UK) and LLM in International Business Law from the Sorbonne Assas International Law School, Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas. She is a member of the Young International Council for Commerical Arbitration (Young ICCA).
